May I suggest "So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anymore" by Wayne Jacobsen. I left the church for many reasons, but I didn't leave the Father. I don't believe the church, sadly and for the most part, is what our Father wanted it to be. She has gotten sidetracked. There is a whole community of believers who have left the church. Start with lifestream.org or thegodjourney.com and go from there. If you are sincere in your desire to follow God (not the church) then you'll find a whole lot of help there. I hear you. As you see by my user name, I am indeed an 'ex-christian' and that is because of the exact same conclusion you have come to bud. Indeed, in today's Church the golden rule 'if you don't fit, you aint worth shit' is the order of the day. Many people in today's church including the pastors and leaders know NOTHING about Jesus or even who he was. I find many(not all)Christians to be self righteous, arrogant, snobby and super-hypocritical. You did a good thing to leave this 'mockery' of Jesus bud. It is all very well that some Christians will choose to reply to this post with the 'make it all about God' speech but the fact remains you still have to sit with these 'tossers' once, twice, or if you're really fundamental, SIX days a week. GO and do what I do, life your life, make a REAL difference, go and volunteer somewhere or make a donation to a few charities once or twice (even thrice) a week. It's definately worth more to God than just sitting listening to these people who just mostly 'talk'(out if their asses most of the time)and never 'practice' what they 'preach'.Cheers, ChrisP.S to Christians thinking of replying and saying I am just angry or hurt. I am not. I am just being honest. Hiya,

But probably, are we missing any point!!! You said you want to fit in - the word 'U', then your family, then the 'cool' bunch of young people, then pastor and then again finally - 'U'.In today's congregation we want to shine or shun - no middle way. That's not a problem because it is 'human' but the point that is missing in your 'emotional letter' is God. Have you ever gone to a church and never gave important to what is happening around you and focus on God alone??? Even the shit sermon (sorry for my french) would be beautiful... TRY IT BRO!!!
